Romisa E. Rangel has been serving her RGV community as a speech-language pathologist (SLP) for the past 11 years. She graduated from Baylor University with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders with Summa Cum Laude honors in 2009 and a Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2010.  Romisa has experience with all age-groups, various diagnoses including Autism and Downs Syndrome, and other medically complex patients. Romisa is trained in low and high tech augmentative and alternative communication including LAMP words for Life and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) level 1 and 2. She is also experienced with incorporating basic baby sign language into therapy with the populations who would benefit from a multimodal/total communication approach. Also, she is experienced with various feeding and oral motor impairments including patients who are on trach/vent, gtube, feeding aversions, and sensory-motor impairments. Therapist is bilingual and is fluent in Spanish. Formal and informal bilingual evaluations are available to patient’s who need to be evaluated utilizing both Spanish and English or Spanish depending on their Basic Interpersonal Communicative Skills (BICS) and Cognitive Academic Language Proficiency (CALP).
